Backup ConfigStore with powerShell for local settings

I wrote a blog post about my problem with configStore:

http://www.czarzbon.com/2010/03/31/konfiguration-von-sharepoint-erweiterungen-powershell-und-spconfigstore

It is in German so I put here a short abstact:

We fill the configStore with ListInstances. Every developer is adding his own additional variables. If the variables depend on the surrounding (development, stage, productiv) and you want to have also the new variable from another developer preset, you have to redeploy the ConfigStore List. So you lost your setting.

I wrote a small PowerShell script (see blog post) which backup all this information to an xml file. You can also restore it. And by the way, sometimes it is easier to edit the xml file : )

How do you cope with this problem?
